Ciaran Reilly & Associates was engaged to design a slope stability remediation scheme for an unstable slope to the rear of a property adjoining the River Dodder in Templeogue, Co. Dublin. Following an assessment of the ground conditions, the issue was determined to have been caused by recent heavy rainfall and an overstep slope angle. A design solution was proposed using a grid of Percussion Driven Earth Anchors (PDEAs) combined with a facing system of galvanised steel mesh, geogrid, and an erosion control layer. Specialist software was used to model the proposed design and show that adequate stability would be achieved. Drainage works were designed to divert stormwater away from the face of the slope. The slope will be planted so that it greens up in time, protecting the soil and facing system.
